Imagine a riveting ski jacket with flashing red lights on the back, exciting enough to look like fire on ice when it hits the slopes. Or sexy second-skin cowgirl ski outfits with low, hip-slung holsters, a look that had men gasping. Or a James Bond finale complete with 007′s white ski suit and knockout footage from “A View to a Kill” that left women standing in the aisles and swooning over the James Bond lady-killer.

These were but a few of the spectacular items included in the Bogner fashion show staged for the opening of that store on Sutter Street.

Also included in the multimedia production by Willy Bogner – former Olympic skier, fast-action cameraman and designer – were film clips of world-class slalom skiing, champion windsurfing, sensuous sand-skiing, breathtaking ice-sailing and rubber band-loose break-dancing on snow, all done in Bogner clothing.

The ski wear far outshone the sportswear, especially the one-of-a-kind hand-painted ski body suits featuring urban art, which will be available next year for about $2000 each. The vintage ski wear segment of the show – including wool floor-length dresses and gaucho skirts worn with cotton blouses from the early 1900s – was a treat, too.

From beginning to end, the show was a smash, no surprise since it comes from the innovative German company that first created ski pants in the 1930s.

Also well-dressed, in a traditional sense, was Dr. Paul Eisler, consul general of Austria, who graced the audience wearing the national costume of his country, a medal-bedecked Tyrolean jacket and vest, an ascot, and a small bristled hiking hat.

Of particular interest was the charm bracelet that he wore across his vest. It looked exactly like a woman’s charm bracelet. Among the little gold trinkets were silhouettes of young girls’ faces and what looked like a gavel.
